Rick Sallinger, a reporter for KCNC Denver, passed away due to natural causes on May 9 in the Denver area. He was 74 years old.Rick began his work at KCNC, which is now called CBS Colorado, in 1993. During his career, he reported on some big events like the Columbine High School shootings, the trials following the Oklahoma City bombing, and the case of JonBenet Ramsey’s murder. His reports were sometimes featured on national shows such as CBS Evening News and CBS This Morning.Rick was born in Chicago and went to the University of Illinois, where he got his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.He started his career in broadcasting on the radio in Cleveland and Chicago. Later, he moved to television, working at stations like WRTV in Indianapolis, KUSA and KCNC in Denver, WMAQ in Chicago, and even as a correspondent in London for CNN.Rick was married to his wife Isabel for 30 years and they had two sons, Marc and Eric.He was a part of the CBS News and Stations team.On the day he passed, CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell remembered him, saying, “Rick Sallinger will be greatly missed by all of us here at CBS News.”
