Woman Forgets Name And Hit With Strange Symptoms Caused By What Was Found Under Her Carpets

If there is mold in your home, you should never ignore it. This is something that an Australian woman has not taken seriously and is now raising awareness because she incurred health problems that could kill her and all of these were caused by molds in her house.

Amie Skilton and her husband moved into an apartment back in 2016. She did not know that she already had a genetic vulnerability to mold. However, nobody expected that this would almost kill her. Now 42, Skilton said that at the time, her brain and body were deteriorating for no reason at all. Well, that’s what she thought.

As soon as they moved in, she noticed how her health slowly deteriorated. The apartment water was leaking from the shower and under the carpet but they did not know that at first.

She shared, “I started getting sick, noticeably sick, about two months in. It may have taken that long just because it was over summer and it was really sunny, we always had the windows open and we never registered that there was a leak at all.”

And since she has a genetic susceptibility to mold, a “systematic breakdown” happened to her body.

She quickly gained weight and her brain function deteriorated. She said, “Some days I couldn’t figure out how to get dressed. I would look at clothes and … just be really confused as to, like, how to put them on.”

She had trouble remembering even the simplest things. She said, “I went fill out a form one day and I was staring at the box that said my name and I was like, ‘what is it again?’ I was staring at it, searching for it.”

She decided to get tested but received no answers. She said, “This is exactly what happened. Everything came back fine, white blood cell counts fine, red blood cell counts were fine.”

She could not disregard this though because her condition continues to get worse…

Then one time, a building biologist discovered a leak in the building that she was unaware existed. She said, “The carpet looked totally fine on top but when she lifted it there was all this black mold. When we finally stripped back our mattress cover the mattress was green.”

To her disbelief, the owner did know about the water leak problem and never even bothered to tell them. Skilton said, “So they left us in there knowingly, which is probably the thing that enrages me the most. They knew and it was poisoning us.”

So as soon as they discovered the molds in the house, she finally got the right tests done. And it was “100 percent clear that, not only was the place leaky and moldy, but also my immune system had reacted in the way we know my genetics would dictate in the face of mold.”

Skilton’s advice to everyone is to always check for mold whether or not you are genetically susceptible to it.

She said, “You can either get a building biologist to check your home or a certified mold testing technician. All building biologists have done that training, but not all mold testing technicians have gone on to do the rest of the building biology stuff.”

Since then, Skilton has become a mold testing technician herself.
