To those who got the chance to spend unforgettable moments with their grandparents, you are lucky!
Parents love their kids, but nothing can compare to the love and care that grandma and grandpa have for their grandchildren. They sure know how to spoil their grandkids, be there even if they are not asked to, and are also equally proud of the successes as parents do.
There is a video going around the internet these days that has been melting the hearts of so many people who were able to view it. This is a tear-jerking moment between a grandpa and his lovely granddaughter. It was initially posted on Reddit but is now shared on different social media platforms. No matter where you saw it, you will surely struggle to hold back your tears.
This very emotional moment was of the Marine officer as she is receiving her first salute from her grandpa. In the video, the grandpa can be heard saying:
“Staff Sgt. Williams, requests permission, ma’am, to hug his granddaughter, 2nd Lt. Charlotte Williams.”
The lieutenant answered: “Permission granted.” She then gave her granddad a tight hug, making everyone cry, including the guy in the back who was trying to conceal it. James Williams, the grandpa, is a retired Marine Staff sergeant and he is very proud of his granddaughter’s accomplishment! The grandfather must have been really happy that she followed in his footsteps. This video was taken in front of the crowd at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia.
This video was released on YouTube in 2013, an old one but it never fails to cause tears in our eyes. Everyone would agree that this is one of the best that you have ever seen online. It was posted on YouTube by Dave Williams with a caption:
“My father, James Williams, retired Staff Sargent US Marines, has the honor of delivering the first salute to his Granddaughter, 2nd lieutenant, Charlotte Williams. Ceremony was held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Quantico, VA. August 9, 2013.”
To date, it now has over 3 million views! This video has received almost a thousand comments and one of them says, “He understands what she’s gotten herself into. He must have been very proud. Thank you BOTH for your service to this amazing and beautiful country.” Another comment reads, “I just absolutely loved that even though she respects and holds him dear to her, that he knew the protocol when speaking to a superior officer, that all just made it even better.”
Many people are commending this granddad for raising a good family. There is also one grandfather who shared his comment saying that he also has two sons and one of them is still in the military. “I know completely how he feels, and he has every right to be a very, very proud Grandfather paying respects (welcoming) his Granddaughter into ‘the fold’. Well done, those two soldiers,” he wrote.
This might have been a very short clip, not even a minute-long, but it was enough to see how proud and happy this granddad is of his granddaughter. He surely knows the struggle and the hardships that she has to go through to reach this success because he was also in the military once, which is why he has every right to be proud of her; as proud as her parents must have felt that day and for the rest of their lives.
