More Serious Criminal Charges Are Adding Up For Actor Gary Busey

William Gary Busey is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Buddy Holly in “The Buddy Holly Story” in 1978. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor and won the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor for this role.

He is once again in the news headlines not for his acting skills or his accomplishments. Now, actor Gary Busey is facing sex offense charges.

This alleged incident happened at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, during the annual Monster Mania Convention. Busey was a featured guest at the event from August 12-14.

According to a Facebook post from the Cherry Hill Police Department, they reported that a California man was charged with four crimes which includes two counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. Police stated that the incident involved a meet and greet with horror movie fans.

Later on, the Philadelphia Inquirer identified the man as Gary Busey…

Based on reports, fans complained about the 78-year-old’s actions during the meet and greet. This is why the convention’s promoter saw to it that he “was removed from the convention and instructed not to return.” Following the complaints, the promoter urged attendees to contact the police. Police added that Busey’s conduct led to “multiple complaints.”

Cherry Hill Township Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann said, “It was about contact. It was about touching.”

WTXF-TV reporter Steve Keeley said that three women accused Busey of “[touching] them inappropriately” during an autograph signing. Keeley Tweeted that there were also reports that Busey’s behavior led to him being removed from the convention. Keely added that the police expect more complaints will be brought against Busey from more victims of the said event.

A law firm representing Monster Mania released a statement to CNN regarding the incident. They said: “Our client, Monster-Mania LLC, is assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving attendees and a celebrity guest at its convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey last weekend. Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendee, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report.”

Gary Busey has appeared in over 100 movies. His most popular films were “Point Break,” “Predator 2” and “Under Siege.” He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his starring role in “The Buddy Holly Story” in 1978.

According to reports, this is not the first time that Busey had problems with the law enforcement. Busey has gained a reputation for erratic behavior in the past years. In fact, back in 1995, Busey was arrested on drug charges after a cocaine overdose.

Then in 1988, he was injured in an accident after losing control of his motorcycle while driving downtown Los Angeles without wearing a helmet. He survived but he sustained severe head injuries and underwent intensive surgeries. Other than that, he also has two arrests for domestic abuse.

Regarding these recent complaints against him, a police investigation is ongoing. Yet, nobody from his side has released a statement regarding the charges.

Police are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Cherry Hill Police Department at 856-432-8834.
