Houston Chain Restaurant Shows New Sign And This Offends A Few Customers

Sometimes, simple signage can say a lot. And businesses wanted to please their customers. But this restaurant in Texas is taking a stand against political correctness.

Berryhill Baja Grill is five company-owned restaurants. They are now gaining public attention after the company decided to show an anti-politically correct sign that gained the public’s attention. In just a matter of days, the Berryhill Baja Grill offended a few of their customers.

If you are wondering what offended the public, this is what they wrote on their signs:

“Notice. This store is politically incorrect. We say Merry Christmas. God bless America. We salute our flag and give thanks to our troops, police officers and firefighters. If this offends you, you are welcome to leave. In God we trust.”

And this is singed at the end by Berryhill.

These signs were posted in the direction of the Berryhill CEO Jeff Anon. And his issue had been from the generic red coffee cups for the holiday season by a famous coffee establishment where the cups are widely accepted by the masses to be an inclusive color for all beliefs. And after his son showed him a picture of the same designs, the CEO decided to print his own as well. In addition to that, he also installed Christmas decor around the restaurant.

During an interview with ABC News, Anon said, “I just got tired of all the news of everybody having to be politically correct.”

What the Berryhill Baja Grill is saying is that they are a pro-Christian and pro-American establishment. They are not focused on being inclusive of people with other beliefs. And the sign he posted on their front door just makes it clear that if you do not agree with the CEO’s views, then you are not welcome. Anon said that he is done trying to appease everyone when he saw conversion on social media about how people were offended when Starbucks created their red-themed holiday cups. Many believe the red color is closely linked to Chrismas and a lot of people were outraged.

He said, “There’s nothing wrong with saying ‘Merry Christmas,’ in lieu of ‘Happy Holidays.’ When people say ‘Merry Christmas’ they’re being nice.” He doesn’t see this as being offensive. People are just wishing others something nice.

On a separate statement, Anon explained, “I don’t think anybody means anything bad or mean when they say Merry Christmas, and I thought somebody had to stand up and say enough of this.” He added, “I’d say for everyone who thought it wasn’t appropriate, probably 10 to 20 who thought it was and supported it.”

This was supported by one of the customers, Randy Massy. He said, “I guess the political correctness has gone overboard sometimes.”

The CEO also mentioned that these signs were already removed after a couple of customers were offended by it. But then, the restaurant was quick to replace the missing signs.

He said, “The outpouring of support has been absolutely terrific. We’re actually getting a lot of requests from people to get the sign. Some people say you shouldn’t take religion into the workplace. We’re not trying to bring religion into the workplace. It has nothing to do with religion. It’s the spirit of the holidays.”

They sure lost some customers but the CEO explained that business continues to boom for the restaurant. Anon owns five Berryhills in Houston as well as other franchises and franchise-holders.
