The NASCAR world is feeling very sad because Andrew Lorenz has passed away at 44 years old.
Andrew was part of the NASCAR family for over 15 years, doing lots of different things in the sport. He loved racing since he was little and eventually became part of NASCAR. Even though he wasn’t one of the top racers in the big races, he did really well in some famous races like at Daytona and Talladega, but not many details are shared about those times.
Besides racing, Andrew also helped with planning and team strategies, showing he was good at more than just driving fast.
On February 20, at 2:24 PM, Andrew lost his fight with some health issues. His mom, Patricia Lorenz, shared that he was in the hospital for 10 days and then had special care at home for 12 days before he passed away. She wrote a very touching message on Facebook about being with him on his last day, holding his hand and telling him how much he was loved.
Patricia also talked about how many people visited Andrew during his last days, showing how much he was loved by his coworkers at SMT (Sports Media Technology), friends, and family.
Fox Sports, during a race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, made a special mention to honor Andrew. They talked about him during a pause in the race, saying how much they’ll miss him and how he was a big part of the team behind the scenes.
Andrew didn’t just love NASCAR; he was involved in many sports, working on big events like Major League Baseball, NFL football, and more. His mom shared this to show how much Andrew did in sports broadcasting.
So, during a special moment in a race, the announcers took the time to remember Andrew and all the work he did, making sure everyone knows how much he meant to the sports world.
