Mother Facing Jail Time After Killing Toddler For Not Eating Hotdog

A toddler can be very picky when it comes to food. Still, mothers will try to feed them healthy foods and snacks. When a child refuses to eat a certain type of food like veggies or fruits, the mother will get tricky to try to incorporate that vegetable or fruit into the child’s diet. Never should a mother physically hurt or emotionally abuse the child just because he or she refuses to eat the food prepared.

A woman was sentenced to 19 years in prison after she was charged for the death of her 2-year-old son.

Nancy Woolheater from Wichita, Kansas severely beat her toddler to death just because he refused to eat his hotdog. According to The Wichita Eagle, a Sedgwick County judge assured that “sentence has been earned” for the death of this baby boy. Woolheater’s boyfriend, Lucas Diel, who was also present at the time of the assault allegedly hit the baby. He is charged with a more severe punishment of 49 years behind bars for second-degree murder.

According to reports, some of the injuries found on the boys’ body included a broken arm, nose, and rib. He also got bruises on his face, stomach, back, and buttocks. There is no doubt that this boy had been abused for months.

Reports reveal that on May 6, 2018, Anthony Tony “Bunn” was found lifeless on his living room floor. This happened two days after he was beaten unconscious at his own home in the Riverside neighborhood by his mother and her boyfriend. The couple was soon taken into custody. When interrogated, they gave conflicting explanations on what really happened to the boy. Both of them were not able to clearly explain the cause of the little boys’ extreme injuries.

The mother explained to the authorities how she “lost it” when the boy refused to swallow pieces of hot dog that she served him during breakfast. She was not able to control her anger and slapped him across the face. She hit him again and again while the boyfriend was holding the food in the boys’ mouth. The mother then left her son with her boyfriend.

When she went back to the room, she saw him with a broken tooth, his lips were cut and bleeding, and his face was swollen. She said that she heard her boyfriend hitting her son. However, the boyfriend denied that he was the one who hit the baby. He explained that the boy had just fallen from his bed.

During one of the hearings, Judge Jeff Syrios told the mother, “Neither the rule of law nor the community tolerate this kind of harm done … to our children. Tony was under your charge. And your job was to raise him and protect him.” Which she replied, “I know that I’ll never be able to make up for or undo the mistakes I made. I know that I failed my son when he needed me.” She added, “I do want it to be known that I did love Tony — and I still do — with all my heart.”

On a separate hearing date, Woolheater’s father told her that he loved her and she is still the little girl that he held when she was born. But he also explained that as a parent, it was her job to be there for her son. The grandfather is hoping that what happened to his grandson should not happen to any child.
