Mom Shopping For Little Boys’ Shorts At Target And Finds Something Odd

If you have two or three kids, it is easier to shop for their clothes at the same time. And sometimes, when you get a new shirt or pants for one kid, it’s heartbreaking if you don’t get some for the others. That is why if you do, you have to know your kids’ sizes. However, you probably have noticed how boys and girls have size differences.

Anne couldn’t help but notice this and decided to share it with the world. She was referring to her toddler daughters’ shorts that seemed to be the same size as her baby boys’ shorts despite them being labeled differently.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Anne said: “If anyone’s wondering why girls have body image issues, these are my daughter’s shorts.”

She is referencing a pair of size 2T-girl shorts she bought for her daughter. Then she showed a pair of her son’s 6-9 month-sized shorts. And when placed on top of the other pair, it was clear that the two are exactly the same size, when they shouldn’t. And this is not the first time that this happened. Anne compared another pair of shorts for both her daughter and son. She has a pair of 3T-girls shorts and a pair of 9-month boy shorts. And still, they were seemingly the same exact size.

Now people are wondering whether this is just a weird coincidence, or maybe children’s clothing manufacturing is doing this on purpose. And when the video was posted and went viral, most people agreed on how strange this was.

One person wrote: “Don’t even get me started! They try to sexualize our girls. That’s why I buy my girl boy shorts.” Another commenter wrote: “I stopped buying the shorts/pants from the girls’ section. The clothes are skin tight and super short.”

But some viewers actually have an explanation as to why this could be possible. Some were quick to point out that the shorts Anne was showing were from different brands. And that means that these brands could have different standards when it comes to sizes.

Others also pointed out that baby clothes are usually designed to make room for the fact that babies wear diapers while toddlers usually don’t. The person commented: “Nah..it’s the brand and the fact baby’s clothes account for diapers.”

These comments make sense for a lot of people so Anne made a follow-up video acknowledging this point. However, she continued to prove that even in the same brand, the same issues happen. She pointed out that girls’ clothes seem to be way smaller than boys’ clothes.

This daycare worker commented, saying: “I love and appreciate what you are doing! It feels like all people care about are the excuses for issues with kids clothing.” Another person said: “Def experienced this buying a superhero shirt for my daughter. The boy sizes were very different than the girl shirt sizes.” Another commenter added: “I don’t even have kids. But this is so interesting.”

Anne posts more videos showing that her discovery was not just a one-time thing. In her next videos, she shows just how different the sizes can be for boys and girls.

If you have children, try comparing their clothes. Do you have the same issue? Why do you think this happens?
