Eating a healthy meal is something that every mother would want to have for their children. However, making a child eat their greens, or making sure that they have a slice of fruit every day is a challenge. Because of the easy access of these children to processed and junk foods, maintaining a healthy diet is hard but it is very important. When a mother shared her story about how she never fed her baby with sugar or carbs, they became an inspiration to plenty of mothers worldwide.
Grace Cooper, a 13-month old baby had never had any sugar or a carb in her diet every since she was born. This is impressive because most adults have a problem controlling these two in their own grown-up lives.
According to her mother, Shan Cooper, Grace only eats fruits that have natural sugars but is never eating anything that have sugar added on it. Shan is a fitness guru and like her daughter, she is also on a strict meat-and-vegetarian diet. Mom doesn’t like putting a label on the diet that they are following, but this is what others call a Paleo Diet.
In simple terms, Paleo Diet allows you to eat only the foods that humans eat when they first roamed this planet over millions of years ago. This diet will help you eliminate any high-fat and processed food that has very little to no nutritional values and only has too many calories that are more than what our body needs. Your calorie and sugar intake will be lower and you can only eat fruits and vegetables that are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
Mommy Shan and Baby Grace avoid processed foods at all times and they just stick to their own natural diet, this is why Grace is a happy and a healthy baby girl. According to the mom, as soon as her daughter is old enough, she would be able to understand and make decisions of her own about what she likes and what she dislikes and baby Grace will not be forced to stay on the meat-and-vegetarian diet. For now, Shan just wants to build a solid and healthy foundation that her baby would benefit in the future.
When Shan was interviewed by the Daily Mail, she said, “If she eats a piece of bread I’m not going to have a conniption…She’s going to go to kids’ parties and eat what’s there. I’m never going to say ‘You can’t eat anything at this party, but I packed you some kale, here you go.’” Mommy shared that her beautiful and healthy daughter has been on the Paleo diet for some time now and her daughter has only been sick once in her life.

Paleo started as a diet specifically designed to combat certain chronic diet-and-lifestyle diseases like the Type 2 Diabetes as well as Fatty Liver Disease. But recently, this kind of lifestyle diseases are also showing up in younger children, and this includes kids.
Many parents have slowly shifted their younger children to Paleo diet but you must understand that not all dieticians recommend this very strict diet for young children.
Daily Mail was able to chat with a professional named Dr. Rosemary Stanton, who openly expressed her concern about the lack of grains specifically on Grace’s diet. When you have decided to take this route for your children’s diet, it is important that you talk with your pediatricians and dieticians first to make sure that this change will not bring any complications to the baby and will only promote a healthier lifestyle.
