Little boy and girl forgotten by their parents meet a single dad who wants to adopt them

Meet Peter Mutabazi, an amazing single dad who is Black and has opened his home to 36 kids over time. Recently, he welcomed two more kids into his big, caring family.

Back in 2019, Peter adopted Anthony Mutabazi when Anthony was 17. Not too long after, 8-year-old Isabella and 7-year-old Luke also became part of his family. Peter, who is 49 years old, told PEOPLE magazine that having these kids in his life is a joy. He’s happy to be a permanent home for them.

Peter is not your average dad; he’s an inspiration to many. He uses his Instagram, @fosterdadflipper, to share his life as a foster dad. He believes families don’t need to look alike and encourages other men to be active and loving dads.

But Peter’s work doesn’t stop with just fostering. He really cares about reuniting foster kids with their real parents whenever possible. He says he will always support the kids’ biological parents in trying to get their kids back. But, if that can’t happen, he assures the kids they will always have a home with him.

In May 2020, Brenlynn, who was 5, and Koleman, who was 4, came to live with Peter in North Carolina. Their parents couldn’t take care of them because of problems with drugs and were supposed to stay with Peter for just four months. However, their parents stopped visiting and calling as time went on.

By April 2023, the rights of the biological parents were taken away. This made Peter officially their dad, which was a sad but important moment for him. He felt sad for the kids because they lost their chance to be with their biological parents.

Later, Peter talked to the kids, explaining their parents wouldn’t come back but reassured them they always had a place in his home and heart. Luke, one of his adopted sons, loves to draw and is very kind. Isabella, who loves to play outside and wants to be a vet one day, is now known as the boss of the house.

Peter shares his family life on Instagram, where he uses fake names for his foster kids and has them wear sunglasses to keep them safe. Right now, he’s also taking care of “Bella,” a 2-year-old, and two refugee kids from Senegal, making sure they all feel loved and part of a family.

Peter’s mission is all about giving kids a stable, loving home, no matter what their or his skin color is. He has written a book called “Now I Am Known” and started a charity to help more foster children. He dreams of helping even more kids in the future.
