The huntress is getting hunted.

Over the course of the past few years, Olivia Nalos Opre and Tom Opre, her husband, have been known to make headlines over trophy hunting, their choice of hobby.
Just last week, she was back in the news after she appeared on ITV’s This Morning and making some controversial comments in defense of her choice to hunt some of the most endangered animals in the world.

Olivia, who won the title of Ms. Nebraska in 2003, was on a video call from her home in Wyoming and she explained why she was so much in love with the sport, before she went on to say why hunting is important.

She said, “I think that this is an activity that brings me to a place where I get to be a part of wild places. I’m among the people of these areas, and the adventure and the pursuit just appeal to me. It’s an activity that pushes you to a limit you’re not familiar with. It takes you out of your comfort zone and or me, hunting is just being a part of the wild”

Then, she went on to brag about her ‘extensive list’ f hunting adventures, including travelling across half a dozen continents in hunt of prey.

“I’ve been to about 40 safaris in 8 countries, so altogether, I’ll say about 100 species,” she said her Facebook bio says that she has hunted in countries such as the United States, Tanzania, Benin, France, Canada, Cameroon, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Mongolia, Spain, Romania, and Mexico.

Then, Olivia told hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that hunters are “the ones who are involved in giving back to the preservation of wild species”
She said, “There is no photographer who is going to go to Liberia to take pictures. However, hunters have the desire to see new areas and as these hunters come in, they’re creating jobs, helping to drill wells and take animal censuses, and what’s seen as most important is the efforts at limiting poaching”

She also said that there are organizations, such as Safari Club International, that provide funding for research in hunting in order to ensure that the numbers are kept at a ‘sustainable’ level.

The comments she made didn’t sit well with some viewers and users on social media. People labeled her as ‘vile’, ‘evil’, and a ‘scumbag’ or her words and the fact that she defended fellow hunter, Brittany Longoria, who was recently seen with a dead leopard.

This won’t be the first time that Olivia is made to feel heat and backlash. Just last year, the huntress revealed that due to her love for hunting, she has gotten various death threats, especially after she killed Cecil the Lion.

Still, all of that hasn’t stopped her from engaging in this highly controversial activity. She decided to give up the world of beauty pageants about a decade ago in order to pursue her ‘true passion’, which she says is to teach people the important role that hunters play as humanitarians and servants of nature.

The ex-beauty queen said she has been hunting since she was 16 and now, at 41, she’s the adventure consultant for the World of Hunting Adventure and the co-host of the show Eye of the Hunter.
