When many people think of going to Africa on a safari, it is usually to see the beautiful and rare animals on the continent. But some people visit Africa with a more sinister purpose in mind. While some go to Africa to simply admire the wildlife, sadly there are some who do so to hunt these animals for the mere fun of it.
Like an addict, some of these thrill seekers go after deer, elk, and other bigger and rarer animals to shoot them down. One of such trophy game hunters, an American woman by the name Tessa Thompson Talley or otherwise called TTT recently shot and killed an extremely rare and endangered black giraffe. She then posted a picture of herself with the poor animal on her social media page.
TTT has a habit of hunting down and killing rare and controversial animals. She shoots first without asking questions and then shares pictures of her kill to the public online. During a recent Trophy Hunting trip in South Africa, she joined forces with a group of people, and together they shot down as many big game animals as they could find. As always she posed and took pictures with her kills which offended quite a good number of online users.
But one particular picture caught the attention of most of her followers and had earned her a lot of backlashes. She posted a picture of herself with a black giraffe and captioned it
“Prayers for my once in a lifetime Dream hunt came true today! Spotted this rare black giraffe bull and stalked him for quite a while. I knew it was the one. He was over 18 years old, 4,000 lbs and was blessed to be able to get 2,000 lbs of meat from him.”
Many of the people who saw the picture were enraged. One of the comments read:
“Tess Thompson Talley… may Karma be swift and merciless to you.”
African Digest found TTT’s photos with the giraffe and shared it on their animal’s rights page on Twitter. The photo was posted with a caption that read: “White American savage who is partly a Neanderthal comes to Africa and shoot down a very rare black giraffe courtesy of South Africa stupidity.” many of the people who commented on this post by Africa digest also expressed their anger at Tessa Thompson for her inhumane acts. One Twitter user wrote “Tess Thompson Talley. May you suffer guilt, torment, and loneliness from your mental illness. Shame on you.”
Another media source gave a brief profile of TTT ad called on the South African Government to do something about people like her.“Her name is Tess Thompson Talley. Please share. If our so-called governments can’t care for our wildlife, then it’s time we stand up and responsibility of our continent, lands, resources, and wildlife… Let’s have a united voice against pillage of Africa. It’s the only home we have.” The media source wrote.
However, when people started confronting the Texan about the cruel act on social media, she decided to set her account to private to hide from the controversial situation. This made it impossible to comment on the photos she shared.
TTT isn’t the only one that comes to South Africa for trophy hunting, in fact, the act as become such a menace that some African countries have banned trophy hunting altogether. France and Australia have also banned the importation of trophy game into their countries. South Africa, loses its beautiful wildlife with every kill and something must be done quickly to protect the animals.
