For many people trying to lose weight, nothing is off the limits. Some people go on very strict feeding regimens and try out a number of interesting treatment options just to drop a few pounds. In fact, some of the things people try out just to lose weight might not even be certified as medically helpful but some would still try them out all the same, which might not always be healthy. If you are one of those interested in shedding some pounds, then you will find this post quite helpful.
The answer to your weight loss problem might be a nice glass of wine every night before you sleep. While many consider a glass of wine with their dinner as mere pleasure, a 2015 research says it could hold the secret to weight loss as well.
According to the study which was conducted by the Washington State University in the year 2015, taking a glass of wine at bedtime before hitting the sheet may help you to shed some pounds. Wondering how this is possible? The study discovered that Resveratrol, a compound which is contained in red wine can help your body convert white fat cells to beige fat cells.
This might still sound like medical jargon to you until you are told that your body can burn beige fat cells faster and a lot easier than it can burn white fat cells. The conclusion was reached after the researchers found out that Mice that were given resveratrol during the study gained less weight during the time than those that were not given the compound despite the fact that both of them were fed on the same fattening diet.
According to the study: “mice were fed a high-fat diet. Those receiving resveratrol in amounts equivalent to 12 ounces of fruit per day for humans gained about 40 percent less weight than control mice,” the study found.
This isn’t the only study that supports this claim. Another study from 2012 was reported in the woman’s magazine which found that drinking a glass of wine late in the night prevents you from snacking too much at night, a problem many overweight people face. However, this study used bees rather than mice or humans.
While a lot has been said about the good news especially for those who are looking for ways of cutting some pounds, you might want to consider the dangers of taking too much wine at bedtime as well. Some experts believe that taking too much wine at bedtime can wreak havoc on your sleep patterns
According to Tim Roehrs, director of research at the Sleep Disorders and Research Center of Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital.: “Initially you might feel sleepy and fall asleep easily. But you end up awakening more often in the middle of the night and the alcohol has a disruptive effect on sleep,”
Given this possibility, it is thus advisable to stick to just one glass of wine per night which will have no effect on your sleep pattern since your sleep will only be disrupted when your blood alcohol level rises above 0.04. Based on this figures a man would have to drink two glasses of wine before his sleep is affected while a woman would attain that point with just 1 1/2 cups. If you stick to taking just one cup per day, you should be fine. But over indulgence can lead cause a hangover characterized by daytime drowsiness, irritability, and headaches.
