Of all the dancing movies we’ve watched over time, we all agree that Footloose is by far one of the best. Watching the moves is impressive. What’s even more astonishing is the reason behind its creation. The geniuses behind footloose had the aim of overcoming adversity through the steps.

In the spirit of creativity, one internet expert put together best dancing moves into one mashup set to Kenny Login’s “Footloose.” Not all these movie scenes were footloose or anything close, but that’s the fun of it all. All the dance moves combined will take you back to when their creators first introduced them.

A little on the history of Footloose, the moves were first featured in the movie “Footloose” where it was created and first danced in Elmore City in Oklahoma. The people of the city were the most traditional and considered themselves of high morality. The school and city officials highly prohibited practices which could have, in one way or the other portrayed immorality and dancing was on the list. They even spiced up their strictness with a slogan “If the South is the Bible belt, then we are the buckle.” Somehow they had politicised their religious beliefs.

However, a group of high school students, driven by their desire to express themselves through dancing, decided they could not oblige to the rules anymore. They had the urge to be able to dance at their prom and knew what to do to get what they wanted. They strategically staged a protest, bugging the school and even the city officials. The icon characters were two students, Leonard Coffee and Rex Kennedy. Both of them, together with their fellow students, refused to rest until the ban against dancing could be lifted.

The original video, without the other moves, was by nature resilient. In fact, it shouted the rebellion within the students.

Their protest finally bore fruit, and the city lifted the ban. The people of the older generation in the town had not imagined they could encourage practices like dancing and even consider it celebratory. However, seeing the strength and passion with which the students fought for it changed their mind. They realized it was changing times and therefore they too had to embrace the change. As a result, both the city officials and the school allowed dancing, and indeed the timing was right for their prom.

It was undeniably an incredible sight, seeing the happiness on the student’s face in welcome of their new freedom. Watching them dance, especially the two icon characters, was terrific.

The history of footloose, therefore, is an amazing one, to think of how much determination the students had put in their quest. The final leniency of the elders and officials also was a fantastic act.

Watching the mashed up footloose now will remind you of the resilience of the students. Even though the internet expert added some moves in the dance, footloose still stands out and indubitably, takes us back to the 1980’s wishing for a repeat of the film or maybe a replica.

Other similar dance moves with almost a history as amazing as footloose is the Broadway Dance. It too is a remarkable dance, but many would agree that Footloose was and is still at the top of them all.
