Gardens with beautiful flowers and blooming lawn can definitely change your mood. However, all gardeners know that keeping it pest-free can be very challenging. Not only are you going to need to maintain it regularly, but you also have to find ways to naturally control these pests to protect mother nature. Thankfully, there are plenty of life hacks that we can follow these days. Some of them are effective, yet some of them are not.

Still, lifehacks can definitely make our life simpler and easier – especially with gardening!

Baby powder is one of the most effective hacks that you can use to effectively manage your garden. Little did we know that we can now use baby powder to help fight off different pests such as ants, aphids, beetles, and even some animals that can destroy our gardens like rabbits. This simple and convenient hack can also be used around the house.

Here are some of the uses of baby powder that can be very helpful inside and outside of your home:

How To Use Baby Powder In Your Garden

Rabbits. Rabbits hate the smell and the taste of the baby powder. When you sprinkle this around your garden, it keeps these pesky rabbits away. Once you have the powder sprinkled in your garden, vacate the area immediately, especially if it is windy.

Ants. Ants are one of the most annoying pests inside and outside of your home. They can easily plague your home and garden if you do not stop them soon. They don’t like baby powder and they will avoid it. You can sprinkle this around the foundation of your house, doorways, and also in your garden to keep the ants away.

Beetles. The beetles don’t like baby powder. To stop them from invading your garden, use a small amount on plant leaves. This will be enough to repel Japanese beetles and other types of beetles. When it rains or if the wind blows it away, make sure to reapply.

Aphids. Every gardener knows that this is the biggest problem that they have to face. Gardeners also call them whiteflies, blackflies, greenflies, and plant flies. You can sprinkle some baby powder whenever you see aphids in your plants and to keep these unpleasant pests away.

How To Use Baby Powder At Home

Indoor Bulbs. You can now prevent root rot in your indoor bulbs if you spread just a tiny bit of powder dust on the bulbs but make sure that you put them into a Ziplock bag. You can also add a few tablespoons of baby powder. Once you are ready to plant the bulbs, the mice won’t feed on the roots and this will also stop them from rotting.

Shoe Odor. Shoes can get smelly in time, especially if you have sweaty feet! But worry no more because now, you can add a bit of baby powder into your shoes to help absorb the mold and reduce any foul odors.

Reduce Tool Friction. To help reduce friction when you handle your tools or to prevent them from slipping away from your sweaty hands, apply baby powder. With baby powder, you can also avoid getting blisters

Have you ever imagined using baby powder aside from keeping yourself fresh during a hot summer day? For sure you never expected that it can be used in your gardens. So keep these pests away using this very simple life hack!
