A scared dog named Aries, who is 3 years old and a mix of pitbull and Lab, dashed almost a mile through heavy traffic to reach her doggy daycare for help after she and her owner had a car accident near Detroit, Michigan.

Caught on camera, Aries ran up to the daycare’s front door, stood on her back legs, and looked inside, trying to tell the people there she needed them after her owner’s car got hit on February 24th, as reported by WXYZ.

Aries knew exactly where to go for safety, her owner, Melissa Fickel, aged 31, shared with the Washington Post. She said Aries aimed straight for her “safe spot” to get someone to notice her.

The video outside the daycare showed Aries walking back and forth by the door, clearly looking for help.

Melissa explained that they were heading to a park in Clawson when another car hit theirs from behind right when the traffic light turned green.

Thankfully, no one got hurt, and the cars were only a bit scratched. But the loud bang scared Aries a lot, Melissa said.

Melissa remembered that Aries was enjoying the breeze from the open window when the crash happened. Right after they felt the bump, Aries jumped out of the window in no time.

Trying to get inside the daycare was Aries’ main goal, caught on tape by the daycare’s cameras.

Seeing her dog on the side of the road gave Melissa a moment of relief, but Aries ran off as soon as she saw her owner and didn’t stop even when Melissa called her.

Melissa had to stop looking for Aries briefly to talk to the police and her insurance company about the minor crash.

She had informed the police that Aries had run away, and they helped by alerting others to keep an eye out for her.

Around 20 minutes later, Travis Ogden, who runs the daycare Aries visits weekly, called Melissa to tell her Aries was safe with them. Melissa was so relieved, knowing how dangerous the journey was for Aries, especially crossing a big road.

Aries arrived at the daycare during a break when the staff were busy with other things. Dominic Pace, the manager, saw her after noticing something moving quickly outside. He found Aries near the entrance, clearly upset but safe.

After learning about the accident, everything made sense to the staff. They realized Aries ran there because she knew it was a place where she could feel secure.

The daycare team took good care of Aries, giving her water and playing with her until Melissa could come to get her. They were all amazed by how smart Aries was to find her way to the daycare all by herself, especially under such stressful circumstances.
