Critics Are Pushing To Have ‘The Rudolph Movie’ Banned From Christmas This Year

Many of us grew up enjoying the Christmas special, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Unfortunately, kids these days might not be able to experience this as there are rumors that it may be cut out from television broadcasts this year.

Critics of the Christmas special believe that it celebrates bullying. And now, they want to stop it from influencing the lives of young children all across the country. They are proposing for the Christmas special to be canceled this Christmas season.

“Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is a very popular Christmas special and has become a household favorite for the past decades. But according to the critics, almost every character in the film starts off as a sort of bully to Rudolph, who is different from all of them because of his red nose. And they believe that this does not have a positive implication to young children.

If you are not familiar with the film, it follows Rudolph, a young reindeer whose nose glows red when he gets excited. That adorable nose is harmless but people and animals in the North Pole find him different. They are avoiding him because he is different. And during his adventures in the movie, Rudolph meets an elf named ‘Hermey’ who wants to be a dentist, and a gold prospector named ‘Yukon Cornelius.’

Rudolph also meets a snowman and who arrives on an island filled with rejected toys. But before Rudolph has a good heart, he wants to help these unwanted toys.

Then on Christmas Eve, he travels back home to the North Pole. But then an evil snow queen creates a snowstorm preventing Santa from delivering the toys to all the good little children who were looking forward to opening their Christmas present the next day.

Thankfully, Rudolph saves the day!

Because of his glowing red nose, he was able to guide Santa’s sleigh through the wintry storm. Thanks to Rudolph, Christmas is saved. And because of that, he becomes the Christmas hero.

That is a happy ending, right?

That is definitely something that kids would enjoy. However, critics do not appreciate seeing all that simply because he looks different from all the other reindeers, and that he is bullied and rejected. According to the critics, the character Hermey is the one that worries them. The elf is too obsessed with teeth and also because of his personality.

But not only that, Rudolph is being criticized as well. They pointed out that throughout the movie, he has a crush on Clarice. She is a pretty female reindeer. Critics say that their romance is centered solely around the physical attraction. The critics say that their romance could have had more substance. And also if Clarice’s personality was focused on rather than her long eyelashes and flowery.

Even though the critics want to cancel the ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ because of the bullying, others feel that the bad behavior presented throughout the film is part of the moral of the story. The characters are able to realize how wrong they have been at the end and even apologize to Rudolph and the others that they rejected.

The ‘good feel’ that this film brings to the family is a great reason that this holiday special is still being aired for decades since it was created. Still, the critics want the movie to be canceled from the holiday tradition.
