Cop Noticed A Dad Having Trouble Paying For His Groceries, Decides Enough Is Enough

Raising a family can be a challenge, especially for a single parent. Many parents would do everything they can to make ends meet, and it is never easy.

Many people are doubtful to step in when we see a person in trouble, thinking that they might offend the other person. Still, a lot would lend a helping hand especially to those who are in need. One of them is Mike Kelley.

Mike Kelley is working as a police officer and he is also a security officer at Walmart. His recent generosity did not go unnoticed when he went above and beyond to share his blessings. Sure, he is a very busy person and was making sure that everything was running smoothly with customers who are coming in and out of the store, he never let go of a chance to help.

A dad who was with his four children were having problems paying his grocery bill. The officer can clearly sense the dads’ discomfort because of how he was acting. Mike Kelley did not hesitate to step in and help.

During an interview with WRCB-TV, he shared that he felt God was guiding him that day and telling him not to let this man and his daughters leave the store without the groceries that they were intending to buy that day. He said that as he was looking down at the mans’ kids, they were all looking at their dad. The officer saw that what they got in their shopping cart was just Ramen noodles. He didn’t know if the man ran out of cash or if his card did not work.

“I just felt God telling me, saying, ‘Just go help him.’ [I’m] getting extra money to be there and I’m just like, are these people going to go hungry when I’m just sitting here making a little extra money for myself?”

As he was doing his good deed, he did not know that someone was watching his every move!

Jermaine Bowe happened to be waiting in the queue of customers when he saw an act of kindness unfold in front of him – Officer Mike Kelley approached the man and offered to pay the bill! After paying $80 for a strangers’ groceries, he went back to his usual job routine.

Like everyone else who witnessed what the officer did that day, Bowe was also touched. He posted his experience on Facebook and was hoping that someone would be able to identify this generous man. Bowe shared this story on Facebook and wrote:

“Just witnessed another extraordinary act by our men and women in uniform. A police officer paid for the groceries of a customer here at Walmart. The best part, the customer told the police officer ‘God bless you,’ and the police officer responded, ‘I am already blessed.’ I love it.”

Everyone learned about Mike Kelley and he was immediately considered as a hero. But despite his instant fame, he remained humble and said that he only did what he thought was the right thing to do that day.

A simple act of kindness that might not have meant anything special to Mike Kelley, but he ended up inspiring people from all around the world with his kind heart.
