Kevin Ford started working at an airport Burger King 27 years ago. He was a single dad to two daughters. He decided to take the job since this will give him assurance of regular cash flow and make sure his family receives health insurance.

Kevin is one of the best employees. He was diligent and never missed a day of work. Later on, he remarried and had two more daughters. According to one of his daughters, Seryna, her dad continued to work at Burger King because of the “amazing health insurance” that he’s receiving.

Now, all his children are adults and he’s also a grandfather. He’s nearing retirement age at 54. However, the location he works in Las Vegas did not give him the proper compensation that he deserves after working tirelessly for the last 27 years.

They gave him a small gift bag that has candy, a Starbucks cup, pens, a lanyard, and a movie ticket. In addition, he also had a slice of cake which was brought by the managers for him to celebrate his dedication to his work.

Even though everyone would agree that surely, that’s not enough compensation for almost three decades of working for the company. But a video of him gratefully accepting the bag of goodies touched people all across social media. He said he was happy with the token of appreciation that his co-workers and the company he worked for have given him.

But that is not the case for people who were less than impressed with what they considered an insufficient ‘thank-you’ for 27 years of hard work.

His daughter, Seryna, was one of those people who felt sad for his dad…

To give him the proper recognition, she decided to start a GoFundMe campaign. She wanted to see if people out there would be interested in sending a little love his way. In fact, she did not expect much as she set the goal at $200.

On the page, Seryna wrote: “My dad continues to work there because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age, and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.”

And as of July 5, she was shocked to see that the donated amount was at $358,470!

It was definitely far more than the family could have ever hoped or dreamed of for Kevin. In fact, even actor David Spade placed a donation of $5,000 toward the cause.

Seryna posted an update to thank everyone who shared their blessings with her dad. She wrote: “Y’all shattered the original goal so I increased it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much.”

Kevin Ford has been overwhelmed by how much support he’s received from total strangers. Talking to ‘Today,’ Kevin said, “I’ve been crying for about two days now. It’s just incredible.” He adds, “I just go to work and try to have fun and laugh and make other people’s day good. It’s like I’ve been in a dream for almost two days now. It’s just so beautiful and awesome. It really is. For all those years, you feel unappreciated, but you get up just like everybody else. You do your job, and for somebody to show this appreciation is just overwhelming.”

Talking about how his family loves him and what her daughter did for him, he said, “I can’t repay her, you know? Because she is why I do everything — her and my other daughters and now my grandkids. I really can’t put into words how much I love my family.”

Kevin Ford plans to use the generous gift in paying off bills and also spend some on visiting his children and grandchildren.
