Bill Murray Talks About How His Movie Was Shut Down Because Of Inappropriate Behavior.
Unusual circumstances can happen during a set of a movie. One of the most recent ones that shocked us was from the film “Rust.” Due to the incidents that caused the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injury of director and writer Joel Souza, the film is currently suspended. Some people believe that this western film starring Alec Baldwin will never be finished.
There’s another film that recently stopped production, “Being Mortal.” Bill Murray, Aziz Ansari, and Seth Rogan are starring in the film that was produced by Searchlight Features. The production came to a halt unexpectedly when it was just about halfway done.
Why? because of something that Murray said to a female cast member when they were working together.
Murray claims that he was just trying to make a joke. However, the woman he was speaking to did not perceive it as a joke at all. Instead, she was so offended to the point where the production of the film was halted as a result of her reaction. There is no indication of when or if production will resume at this time.
In an interview with CNBC’s Becky Quick regarding the incident, Murray said, “I did something I thought was funny and it wasn’t taken that way.” He adds that it was a simple “difference of opinion.” But he also said that since the production was put to a stop, he has spent a week thinking about it.
Murray adds, “As of now we are talking and we are trying to make peace with each other. We are both professionals, we like each others’ work, we like each other I think and if we can’t really get along and trust each other there’s no point in going further working together or making the movie as well. It’s been quite an education for me.”
According to Murray, he has learned from his mistakes. He said, “I think it’s a sad dog that can’t learn anymore. That’s a really sad puppy that can’t learn anymore. I don’t want to be that sad dog and I have no intention of it. What would make me the happiest would be to put my boots on and for both of us to go back into work and be able to trust each other and work at the work that we’ve both spent a lot of time developing the skill of.”
The identity of the person that he allegedly offended has not been disclosed.
If the “Being Mortal” production will resume soon, the film is expected to be released in 2023. This movie may never be done in time for its intended release date, but it’s still too early to say for sure
Words are very powerful. Sometimes, what you say to the other person may instantly offend them even though that’s not really your intention. Not everyone has the same level of tolerance when it comes to receiving jokes. That is why even if you are friends with the person, you must be sensitive enough to know the things that might possibly offend them.
Simply because the jokes that may not mean that much to you might mean something else to them. That’s exactly the lesson that everyone should learn from what happened to Bill Murray.
