Even though most people think there are jobs you can stop doing when you get older, there’s one job you never retire from. Have you ever wondered why someone would keep working instead of relaxing and having fun in their old age? It’s because being a mom is a job that lasts forever.

At a home for older people, everyone got to see how strong a mom’s love can be. This mom, who was 98 years old, and her son, who was 88, showed everyone what it means to stick together.

Just one year after her son Tom moved into the home for older people, his mom decided to move in too. They both came from Wavertree and moved to a home in Liverpool. Tom moved there to be taken care of and live comfortably, but his mom wanted to be there for him, just like always.

Ada, the mom, had Tom when she was just 18 years old. They’ve always been super close. This closeness was something they both cherished.

The people who worked at the home thought it was really special to see a mom and her son living there together. Usually, it’s brothers and sisters or husbands and wives who are the same age who live together. But Ada and Tom were different, and they still liked to do things together, like they always had.

Every night, Ada would say goodnight to Tom in his room, and every morning, she’d tell him she was coming to breakfast.

Some might think they would grow apart, but that wasn’t true at all. Tom loved being around his mom, and he would always look for her when she went out, waiting to give her a big hug when she came back.

Tom was happy they lived together, and he was thankful for the people who helped take care of them. Ada never stopped being a mom to Tom, even telling him to behave now and then.

Tom had three siblings, but he never got married, so he always lived with his mom. Their family, including Ada’s granddaughter Debi, often visited, happy to see how they cared for each other.

Truly, a mom’s job is never over. Ada and Tom were lucky to have each other for so long.
